Announcing the first public release of project GSQL version 0.2.0

GSQL is an integrated database development environment for GNOME.
It is designed to support multiple database engines, so far MySQL and
Oracle are supported.

This release introduces:

SQL editor
PL /SQL editor (in triggers, functions, procedures and packages)
accessible in Oracle engine.
tree-like database object navigation
using standard notification service for pop up messages. E. g.
in case of inactivity user will be notified on query completion
create and connect to a duplicate session with parameters copied
from the active session, all in one click

libgda/libgnomedb 1.0.2 released

libgda/libgnomedb are the base of the database support in the GNOME
Office application suite, providing database access for many features in
both Gnumeric and Abiword.

This is a bugfix release, containing fixes for various bugs found by
users in the 1.0.1 release.

ASPL Fact & AF Architecture version ML4 released

Advanced Software Production Line, S.L. is proud to announce the new development milestone of ASPL Fact and AF Architecture, also known as "Granada Trip".

ASPL Fact is a new invoicing system for GNU/Linux (although it should compile and work on every platform where glib is available). It's based on AF Architecture, and it's licensed under the GNU/General Public License.

The main new feature in this development milestone is the independent definition of the AF Architecture: a modular n-tier component architecture specifically designed for business-managing application
design.

Also, we have taken the opportunity of this milestone release, and we have opened our new project page, with English translation, and a bit more standard compliant than the old one.

libgda/libgnomedb are a complete framewok for developing
database-oriented applications, and actually allow access to PostgreSQL,
MySQL, Oracle, Sybase, SQLite, FireBird/Interbase, IBM DB2, mSQL and MS
SQL server, as well as MS Access and xBase files and ODBC data sources.

This release marks the beginning of the end of the normal development
process, since this is one of the latest releases before the 1.0 beta
testing cycle starts.
This release also does not include Mergeant, which has been detached
from the libgda/libgnomedb release process to allow us to get a 1.0
version of those 2 libraries for a (hopefully) GNOME Office release
during this summer. Since Mergeant still needs some work to be in
a 1.0 state, we will continue its development as we've been doing
all this time, but it will keep separate version numbers and (possibly)
schedules than libgda/libgnomedb. Once we get libgda/libgnomedb 1.0 out
of the door, we will concentrate on making Mergeant 1.0.

Igalia releases first public release of Fisterra: Open Source ERP

FISTERRA is a project that aims to
provide a generic open-source ERP (Enterprise Resource Planner) . It currently supports invoicing, stock
and payment management, POS (Point-Of-Sale), distributed work and
offline replication. It uses Gnome
technologies and PostgreSQL (libgda from the GNOME-DB project).

Today on May 1st we have released the first version of Fisterra as a new
free software application developed by Igalia. Fisterra is an
enterprise management application, published under the GPL license.

This project is the beginning of an effort to build a complete free software
ERP solution. Everyone is invited to download
and play with the code. Have Fun!.

GNOME-DB preparing for 0.9beta1

Mergeant (Screenshot)
is now ported to the GNOME 2.0 platform, so we're starting to prepare for the upcoming 0.9 beta1 of the whole GNOME-DB project. We've also set up a TODO list which can be checked to follow the missing bits for that beta1.

This beta will include the same functionality provided by the gASQL application in the GNOME 1.4 version plus the addition of a few basic functionalities. It will be accompanied by a new release of libgda and libgnomedb providing some improvements, specially in the case of libgda.

libgda is a data access layer based on CORBA/Bonobo which allows access
to different database systems, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle,
Sybase, SQLite, ODBC, Interbase, etc, as well as to any kind of data
source you can imagine (LDAP, flat files, etc).
libgnomedb is a widget library containing lots of nice data-bound
widgets, which is based on libgda.
gnome-db is a GNOME frontend to libgda, which lets you access and manage easily
and visually all your databases supported in libgda.
