New project: Gnoppix

GNOME
GNOME

I'm starting a project which aims to build a complete, full-featured GNOME 2.2 desktop based on Knoppix.

Naturally, I will call it "Gnoppix", and already requested the hosting to SourceForge.

I'm accepting suggestions on what Gnome/GTK applications to include, please post them in the comments.

I will post an URL as soon as SF approve/reject my request.

Re: Don't just include apps

WTF is all that babble about? You expect a newbie or typical office user to bounce around apps testing each web browser to try for that level of compatability? Hell no! They are gonna try the one they are given and when that doesn't work, they are going to get mad, call support, complain and because they are using Linux, support is going to say they don't support it and not help. Then some geek like you can come along and install another browser or give them a different shortcut to one that makes it work. My point with all this rhetoric is that if you really expect a user who buys a PC at walmart with Linux preloaded to do all that, you're nuts. The people who are targeted by specialty distros are typically capable of installing something else. You can't intend or hope to meet the needs of 100% of the population and if you do, you are chasing a fruitless dream.
