I have been trying to build consensus. Owen's complete lack of willingness to discuss it made me just not build consensus in #gtk+, and I tend to avoid the rather confrontational nature of #gnome.

I'm not saying they all think the approach has problems. I'm saying all of the people I've talked to, prefer what I'm doing. I'm also saying that in order to promote gnome-vfs, it is best to place it under all of the toolkits, and to get full desktop integration everywhere, not just in the upper reaches of GNOME itself. We can't start to solve the problem by pushing it on the back burner. I have a very abundant feeling that you won't be so likely to discuss making GTK+ depend on vfs either. But eh, what can one do.
