So basically you're saying all the experts on GNOME development think the approach has problems?

As I don't remember reading any info or mailing list discussion or seeing code for your solution, I'd say at least one core developer has no opinion on it yet.

The consensus building
and code iteration to get the patch merged is part of the
file selector task. Just as it is for every other patch,
for every other major free software project.
