It isn't a one hour project. I think it's about a month of work,
including consensus building and iterative
revision.
Same as any other major widget. Well, significantly smaller than some (TextView or TreeView, those were multi-month projects).

There's substantial API in libegg, it's not all in one file.
But the API in there is not complete, no.
