Re: you really need to chill the ***** out

It's not features that are missing, it's *configuration options* for those features. The preferences have been dumbed down, there is no longer a desire to separate things into "Normal" and "Expert" preferences. Instead, ways to configure things have either been taken out entirely, or reduced to a GConf key that isn't even documented. Look at the difference between the GNOME 1.x Control Center and the GNOME 2 one and you'll see how many options have been removed from GNOME. Linux could be the ultimate in configurability, which is why I can never go back to Windows now, but the GNOME 2 captains think that configurability is too dangerous.
