GNOME 2 & 2.1 bug day this Thursday!

good old days. We're going to try to be more organized than we have been
in the past- going forward, we want GNOME programs to have their own QA
teams, and hopefully we can start down that road on Thursday. So... come

keyboard input erratic in GNOME 2

I recently installed Mandrake 9, and the keyboard input is erratic in GNOME. I initially thought the problem may have been an Xkb setting, but when I login to a KDE session, the problem disappears.
Basically, when I'm typing in *any* application while in GNOME 2, it will randomly skip keys. It's not like every other key, more like 1 out of 15 or 20 (sometimes more, sometimes less). It's a very subtle bug that I believe is in some key GNOME subsystem (my personal theory is it's one that buffers keyboard input for some reason, and doesn't echo it to the screen fast enough).
At any rate, the bug wasn't present in GNOME 1.4 (Mandrake 8.1, my old OS), and as I mentioned above the behavior doesn't show up in KDE, nor does it manifest itself in GDM, the display manager.
I've tried tweaking the keyboard settings in the GNOME config, but that didn't affect the behavior. Does anyone have any ideas on this??
