Redhat's new look

Red Hat
Red Hat

Texstar of pclinuxonline, recently posted a bunch of screenshots from Redhat's 3rd beta release known as null. Redhat has made a huge effort via the use of similar icons and themes to make their packaging of GNOME and KDE resemble each other more closely . What do you think? (Poll Attached)

Re: KDE's reaction

If this is true (I have not verified it), that change *is* wrong, imho. I have no problem with Red Hat creating a new and consistent set of icons for both KDE and Gnome apps, but they should not be removing references to the Gnome/KDE projects in the apps themselves!

The people who wrote these programs are understandably proud of their work, and their association with the desktop projects they are part of, so I can see why that change would annoy the developers. Changes to icon sets and menu structure are things which affect the usability and attractiveness of a desktop which supports both types of apps, and are therefore 'fair game' for Red Hat. I can't think of any usability argument for removing links to information about the projects that created the apps, though.
