AbiWord Weekly News #103

AbiWord
AbiWord

This has been a week full of surprises, and not like the nice kind, where a bank error is sided in your favour. This has been more along the lines of the revenue service wonders why your forms are in crayon, whether "Sparky" is really your six year old son or if your mistress can really count as a dependent. Luckily for us, we have Arthur Anderson and Aberdeen! Abisource went into infinite fcsk mode, and on the second day, asked, "Hey, man, this is wrong for some reason, and where do all these packets keep coming from?" It rebooted and life got better. Take heart, it didn't stop the hackers from hacking or the users from abusing. It did delay AWN for a few days.

Re: bad taste

Unfortunately, looking at the comments, a lot of people on this list either finds the deaths of millions funny, or - even worse - does not understand that "nuke Iraq" actually means killing a lot of human beings.

I talk to a lot of people in different countries. I know people who strongly disagrees with US foreign policies. I know people who starve because of american politics. I even know people who are scared to be the next victim of an american bomb (just because they are born in the wrong country, and because the american presidents polularity on the polls are falling, and you can tell he is looking for an easy war) .

However, I have NEVER heard anybody tell jokes about incidents where lots of americans are killed. NEVER.

The only ones that does not grasp that :

1) We are all human beings with childrens, relatives and friends, and that most of us are just trying to live our lives as best as we can....

2) It actually hurts when someone tells you that they find it hillarious to kill these children, relatives and friends.

seems to be two groups of people:

* religous fundamentalists

* a bunch of americans

... sometimes, when I go to sleep at night, I wonder if this really is one group..
