Today we are happy to release a Kororaa Live CD showcasing Xgl technology. If you would like to find out what it's all about, then download the CD and boot up your pc! The Live CD comes with Xorg 7, Gnome 2.12.2, 3D support and of course Xgl ;)

The Kororaa project is a way of installing Gentoo* Linux* easily and quickly, similar to Gentoo's “Stage3 with GRP packages” install.

Partially disappointed

The OpenGL stuff is certainly interesting to experiment with for distributions. However, the amount of effects is clearly overdone. Especially the "wobbly window" and [Alt]+[Tab] effects. I think I will go crazy if I have to watch this all day.

Secondly, this is just eye-candy and there are far more important things to fix first I think. E.g. my Microsoft Bluetooth mouse wasn't automatically detected so I couldn't drag windows at all and was stuck with the keyboard. Ubuntu also sucks because of this while Fedora gets those things right already for quite some time. Also, my main display (Apple 23") wasn't properly configured either so I had to use the CRT as backup. I would strongly recommend distros to fix those hardware issues first and then worry about OpenGL.
