I would rather not team with gEdit developers. It will take me months to become familiar with their code base, there are design and creative differences between both projects, and hacking desktop applications in C is not exactly productive or fun in my books.

Regarding design flaws in Gedit, the one that drove me nuts the most was its Tab/MDI behavior.
