GNOME Women

Hanna Wallach recently announced the formation of the GNOME Women project: "Concerned about the lack of female GNOME developers and inspired by the success of the Debian Women Project, Máirín Duffy and I have founded GNOME Women, a project to encourage more women to participate in GNOME development. At present, we’re starting small—just an IRC channel and a forthcoming mailing list—but I’m hopeful that the project will be as enourmously needed and successful as Debian Women. If you’re interested in getting involved, do drop by the IRC channel (#gnome-women on irc.gnome.org) or send me an email.

A mailing list and archives are now available, with a website also in the works.

Why? Obviously we need it, that's why!

Dude, that was totally uncalled for and unnecessary. Some people actually enjoy the IT industry. Just because you and a few others are complacent in your current jobs, don't take it out on others. What these ladies are trying to do for a little-known population of the industry is valient, meaningful and very worthwhile... until jack-asses like yourself step up and try to bat them back down. You should be ashamed of yourself!!!

I, myself, am glad to see something like this happening. Maybe in time this movement will help teach the brutes like you a little manners and socialization skills; that you obviously are currently lacking.

Go ahead and flame me all you want, you will just inevitably prove my point. And when you're done, go crawl back into whatever back-woods cave you crawled out of, and don't come out until you've learned to play nice!
