Desktop Environment User Interface Surveys

Usability
Usability

Reading over GNOME's desktop-devel mailing list and KDE's Dot News, I stumbled across two sets of user interface and satisfaction surveys that inquire into users think about GNOME and KDE's offerings. The organization performing the inquiry is the Human Aspects of Software Engineering (HASE) group over at the University of Maryland Baltimore County.

I have to be candid in saying that I am surprised to see that a link to the surveys never made it here to, so I am including the links below for those who are interested in participating:

i did one of the gnome ones yesterday

I came to realize that I pretty much just put up with gnome and actually dislike almost everything about it. Infact Linux on the desktop pretty much just irks the shit out of me. I only really use it because I like Linux. I don't think KDE is much better either, infact linux on the desktop "Just Doesn't Work" (tm) most of the time. I guess that will get better. Maybe I've been brain washed but it just doesn't have the same polished feel that commercial OSes like Windows XP and OSX. I imagine companies like Novell will try to improve that. I hope they do.
