GNOME 2.10 splash screen contest

Gnome 2.x
Gnome 2.x

GNOME 2.10 is coming closer and is ready to rock you to the socks. But to make sure everyone gets rocked properly we need a superterrific splashscreen.
Now is your chance to join the ranks of the precious few who have had their artwork associated with a major release of the GNOME! Contest rules and details are at gimp.org. Keep on rocking, and btw, you can use other apps to make the splash too, including for instance Inkscape.

I agree, the current "winner"

I agree, the current "winner" is one of the most ugly screens I've ever seen. I'm truly sorry for saying it like this, but there's no other way to say how it made me shudder and puke.

One of the arguments for choosing it is nonsense as well:

>>> "* The colour scheme and design is clean and simple."

You see, there is _no_ design in that splash screen and even worse, there's absolutely no balance in the image.

I think it's said that our friends over at the KDE desktop will have a much nicer looking (default) splash screen for their latest release, while GNOME will get this 'thing'.

There were very few 'good' entries, but at least you guys could have done a much better job at choosing one that fits the GNOME desktop (look and feel) a bit better.

eg. The following entries have much more of the 'GNOME feel' in it:
