GNOME 2.10 splash screen contest

Gnome 2.x
Gnome 2.x

GNOME 2.10 is coming closer and is ready to rock you to the socks. But to make sure everyone gets rocked properly we need a superterrific splashscreen.
Now is your chance to join the ranks of the precious few who have had their artwork associated with a major release of the GNOME! Contest rules and details are at gimp.org. Keep on rocking, and btw, you can use other apps to make the splash too, including for instance Inkscape.

Debian and CC

Well I'm not familiar with the Creative Commons license, so I can't really comment on the details. Your choice of the word "snub" implies something personal though, rather than something rational.

But lawyers do disagree about what any given legal text really says (despite intentions). Law is all about trying to make sure the letter of the words match the spirit of the words as tightly as possible, without loopholes. The sad fact is that with licenses, what's important is what it "really says", not what "the author meant, with best intentions".

A license is no more than a legal text, which two rational people can sanely disagree on when it comes to interpretation. People always seem to take it personally when their favourite software's not deemed compatible with DFSG. Honestly, I'd love it if mplayer was in Debian, but it isn't right now and I understand that it's not being refused merely due to spite.
