GnomeMeeting: It's not just videoconferencing!

Skype is a proprietary protocol. Its approach is quite different. GnomeMeeting certainly works fine without it.

I'd rather see skype get sip-support

We are allowed to give critical remarks and suggest ideas. If some of us tend to get a bit vocal, that's because we care -- as long as it doesn't get too far beyond more or less constructive remarks. Sometimes, somebody just has to shout what a bad idea something is.

People post because they (think they) have something to say. After all, it's a discussion forum, and in fact, I find most critical posts more valuable than most 'positive' but pretty non-functional postings (such as yours, except for the last paragraph). Nobody likes to read all those fanboy and me-too posts.

And I'd like to add that I love GnomeMeeting too. My girlfriend has been using it almost every day to call home and talk to her family and friends (she's from Finland, living pretty far from home right now). And I agree with you that it is very important that there is a strong and free alternative to a proprietary client.

I mostly agree with you !! But in that case if you dont want to support Skype , which I think is a good idea, you need to do a Win. Gnomemeeting release as only in that case can be that gnomemeeting will replace skype :))
