GNOME 2.8.1 Desktop and Developer Platform is released

The first point release of the stable 2.8.x series of GNOME has been
released. This release includes the latest bugfixes and other
improvements such as updated translations and is the first in a series
of point releases.

Totem works pretty good if you use the xinelib backend instead of gstreamer.

Launch shell here is easy to create yourself with the scripting support in nautilus, checkout http://g-scripts.sourceforge.net/

Search in folder could also be created as a very small script for nautilus.

I work in gnome, as a developer, and I find it pretty satisfying for my needs. Especially the possibility to write my own scripts to call trough the right-click-meny.

It is posts like this that makes me wonder if people actually can use google or if they just sit around and rant all day...
