Re: Desktop Integration Bounty: Check-in 2 Cheque-out !!!!

There is a lot of momentum that epiphany gained and maintains because it was officially sanctioned by gnome as being the default gnome web browser. Diluting that perception erroneously by implying that gnome has gotten behind firefox steals from that momentum.
I disagree on that point. It does not imply such a thing any more than freedesktop.org work implies GNOME has "gotten behind" KDE. All it implies is that the GNOME project sees value in integration and co-operation. There is no shame or confusion in admitting that some subset of users may find Firefox a better choice for their needs and that they too are worthy of a bit of consideration when it comes to the benefits of closer integration.

GNOME does field it's own set of "blessed" apps for a core distribution but contrary to some peoples opinion it is not (and shouldn't be) "the GNOME way or the highway". The focus is on providing a sensible, maintainable coherant core not on denying the existance and integration of other alternatives.
