Gnome, Mozilla and the Challenge of Longhorn

Gnome 2.x
Gnome 2.x

With lots of talk recently about mono/java/python, it seems like a response to Longhorn and XAML is brewing. People at mozilla are talking about how to create an alliance against the hegemon. Co-operation with gnome is discussed on mozillazine. I do hope that gnome can use the XUL language or something like it so that gui programming is easy for us mere mortals. Lets not re-invent the wheel reproducing XAML when we've already got XUL!

This is totally irrelevant by the way. We are not talking about java applets here.

The real question is: "Did you see any C# based GUI application that works nicely?"

There are many on windows platform. With XAML, all these nice programs will be able to become web applications easily, a much better way to deploy applications in this networked day and age. This is exactly what mozilla wants to become but seems like Microsoft might become the standard quickly and websites will only work on IE (not a big problem with 98% dominance).
