OpenOffice 2.0 Concept Overview and GNOME

This makes very interesting reading:
http://tools.openoffice.org/releases/q-concept.html. The document basically outlines the plan for OpenOffice.org 2.0. A significant portion of the document deals with GNOME integration. From a quick read, it seems that there is some overlap with what the Ximian guys are currently doing.

Re: OpenOffice 2.0 Concept Overview and GNOME

I don't agree about the slow startup but it's ridiculous that the current product has no outliner. Developers obvious never use word processors or actually watch people work. Probably the only feature the keeps me on MS-Office is Word's outliner which is better than any other (it left WP behind years ago) with the possible exception of Emacs (Lyx makes a good stab at it but...). If I use MS-Office to get Word I use Windows sigh ... All my documents are on Samba shares of course :-)

Since most OSS developers have no idea what outlining is (think code folding and you're nearly there) I include these links. It's sad ... OSS should be in the lead on this feature.
