This makes very interesting reading:
http://tools.openoffice.org/releases/q-concept.html. The document basically outlines the plan for OpenOffice.org 2.0. A significant portion of the document deals with GNOME integration. From a quick read, it seems that there is some overlap with what the Ximian guys are currently doing.

Re: OpenOffice 2.0 Concept Overview and GNOME

"I miss OO.o... Word is just too dumb for me sometimes, and its frustrating, and this upcoming new version with beter Gnome intergration sounds wonderful.

I miss gaim... a lot... AOL's AIM just flat out sucks. "

maybe i miss understand you, but it sounds like you are saying you miss OOo and Gaim when you are forced into using windows... but both of them run on windows. I'm forced to use windwos about 50% of the time for work so i am *very* happy about that :)
