The past two weeks have been very good for the team. We've had some of the remote hackers (Michael, Mike, Larry, JP) in town, which gave us a chance to make a lot of progress on the 2.0 plans.

In order to use tabs the gui needs a horizontal strip to place the tabs. In the screenshot provided by the parent, you can plainly see that everything to the right of the tabs is wasted.

Ahh, I see now... I don't look at them as a wasted space.. :-) When, you want to compose (create a new mail) or reply and it will be in a new tab.

I suppose that the wasted space could be filled with other buttons, but then the tabs would reduce to nothing more than fancy buttons, and thus equivalent to the original proposed design.

Umm, can we do that in GTK2? To add something in the right of tab?
