The GnuCash project is having a hard time. We may be headed for a dead end if we don't reorganize and refocus our
efforts. GnuCash badly needs more manpower (not just developers), and needs
to get it quickly.

Its more than just gtk1. GTK1 alone is transparent to 95% of users, at least those who use Redhat and don't change the default themes. Aside from that, most gtk2 themes have identical gtk1 themes. Its the baggage of the GNOME 1.4 dependencies. I believe that it requires guppi of all things. Correct me if I'm wrong there.

Anyway, it is such an excellent application, I certainly hope that some capable maintainers can bring it back up to speed.

Of course, I still agree with you that a gtk 2.x port *should* be a top priority. On ./ I heard a lot of people bashing the interface. So, maybe the UI isn't that user friendly, although it looked fine to me.
