GnuCash

The GnuCash project is having a hard time. We may be headed for a dead end if we don't reorganize and refocus our
efforts. GnuCash badly needs more manpower (not just developers), and needs
to get it quickly.

Re: State of the GnuCash project

I think a Gtk2 port is mandatory for the survival of GnuCash.

Since the 2.2 release, Gnome2 is pretty much accepted as the 'Gnome' platform and is, in general, the default platform for new Gnome users.

By sticking with Gtk1, the ugly nature and extra dependencies is scything away potential users who are looking for nice shiney Gnome2 apps.

I know it sounds shallow and vain, but that is the way of the world. Get with the program, keep the interface up-to-date.

I'd also like to see GnuCash become have a more clientserver architecture, so you can access your accounts from anywhere. (Then again, I am an XWT developer.)
