Okay let me add that I finally got around to reading the licensing page that Erick brought up and so my first point its partially wrong. Its LGPL/MIT (Were it not for the MIT part I would be afraid that it would be worthless to any company and Ximian might have gone bankrupt)

Well either way, I should note that by your strange argument about "stealing" code,

Linux would then be "stealing" code from FreeBSD because it GPLed quite a bit of *BSD code that was once more-or-less public domain. Its the same "black hole" as close source from the perspective of a BSD user, pretty much because BSD can't use any Linux code. Why? Copyleft!

For all the *BSD coders care, GPL might as well be closed source, because they are forbidden to use it.
