In this week's episode, Nadav's relaunches a far more advanced version of the Open Text Summarizer, OTS: Stemming the Tide. Dom releases 1.99.3 to the world, which is already available on Latest Releases page. We learn that we cannot --enable-gnome due to header issues from GNOME 2.2. Most interesting of all, Dom releases the AbiWord 2.2: TSWMRCAUSSWVLSD RoadMap. Lots of discussion and a criawips screenshot waiting within.

Last week, there was a discussion about using AbiWord as a document server that would print out postscript, which would be translated into pdf via ps2pdf.

AbiWord 1.x had/has a pdf plugin; however, using it a solution was passed over for a reason. Transcript from Dom (ua)*:

"the developer who stopped bye to give us this patch hasn't done any more in the past 6 months"*

That notwitstanding, the guy who was doing that PDF plugin approached it from the absolute wrong perspective. PDF is a graphics format. He should've done a GR_Graphics implementation that emitted PDF instead of a PDF exporter.

So, for 2.0, at least, I wouldn't be anticipating a pdf plugin.

*(ua): Unauthorised. There isn't anything personal, just technical bits, so, I'm hoping Dom won't mind. My usual hoping, historically, has read to AWN's that Bess refuses to display ;o)
