Re: GIMP 1.3.17 Released

Please feel free to list these "way more" features. The only user-visible and important changes in the gimp 1.3 are the GTK2 port, the new text tool and the new vector tool. There are no new big features apart from these.

A web site dedicated to gimp wrote "nothing more than what was announced for 1.4" about the changelog (this was before 1.3.17, and I do not agree this this quotation, but I wanted to show the opinion of a sample of the gimp community).

Well, there will be the "no gimp perl any more" feature, but I personally call this a regression. ;)

About you "Let's quote some more", I appreciate that you just confirm what I had written (see the (*) note in my message).

Please take into account that these stats are from the CVS access. Some commits done by Sven are actually coming from people external to the project. The changelog is usually very accurate for this, and it relativise the stats. Finally, Gimp is not just the code. Some people spend time helping newbies and writing tutorials and books, their contribution is very underestimated by CVS commits.

You do not need to feel the urge to defend Gimp against me. I have been member of the gimp community for years, being on newsgroup and ML, and writing bug reports. I (and many others) do not agree with Sven on this version naming stuff, but we all respect his decision and trust him for the development of Gimp.
