Evolution 2.0 UI proposal

Here at Ximian we have been brainstorming a bit about what happens
next in the Evolution world. One of the ideas that has come up is a
substantial overhaul of Evolution's UI.

Since images speak better than words, here are the mockups for some
designs that Anna has developed: (this is just to give a very rough
idea of what it would be like; the icons and labels are not final, the
widgets are not the real ones etc.)

PLEASE:

Someone explain me why they'd keep Evo as one program. It seems to me it would be a lot nicer to have several separated, albeit well-integrated and well-connected applications.

For instance, I hardly use tasks, and also don't use the Calendar as much as the Mail, so why do I need to start up (and keep them in memory) all the time while just quickly checking my mail.

Also, I'm sure it would be nice to use evo's Contacts in other programs (in two directions), like Gossip/Gnome-jabber/Gaim, Gnomemeeting, etc. Or open up the Calendar to other apps (MrProject, or even cron integration :-) )

You get the idea: imho Apple has the right idea by making small apps, that can all talk to each other.
