New GNOME2 default theme proposal

Eugenia over at OSnews has published a proposal for a new default theme for GNOME2. This is a follow-up to a recent article
about GNOME2 where she says: "Gnome's default widget look is a very boring one, and maybe one of its weak points [...] most users stay with the defaults, so these should be attractive and make sense". I must say the proposed theme looks very, very nice, and I would really want to see this as the default GNOME theme.

It's not about Bloat or Eye-Candy

I've seen a lot of comments saying how the current default is so much better than this, and to those I can only say "ARE YOU ON CRACK"?

Yes, simple and clean are very good things, but let's face it, the default gnome theme is boring. Sharp square edges, grey widgets, it looks like windows 95.

For a lot of power users (geeks) this is great. For "normal" people who don't care about editing /etc/XF86Config, a pretty widget theme is important. This proposal may not be perfect, but it's so much better than 80% of the current gtk2 themes.

How many more prettyOkayish clones and "simple fast and clean" themes to we have to have where the only real difference is in the colors? What gnome needs is a set of decent, "pretty" themes that are still clean and easy to use. I think this is a step in the right direction. Now if only someone can turn the mockups into reality.
