New GNOME2 default theme proposal

Eugenia over at OSnews has published a proposal for a new default theme for GNOME2. This is a follow-up to a recent article
about GNOME2 where she says: "Gnome's default widget look is a very boring one, and maybe one of its weak points [...] most users stay with the defaults, so these should be attractive and make sense". I must say the proposed theme looks very, very nice, and I would really want to see this as the default GNOME theme.

Re: New GNOME2 default theme proposal

It really disturbs me that an extract from Eugenia's "news site" which is actually little more than you standard opinionated blog/selfrighteous rant is actually being taken seriously enough to be posted here... why doesn't she do something productive like making an actual theme and distributing it instead of pointing to rough mockups of themes that don't even exist and claim that they should be the default. Seriously, when major theme developers create themes they actually make them, and even then they don't asset that they should be the default.

If anyone reads OSnews' proposal and is inspired, they should take a good long look at http://art.gnome.org/ and see the wide selection of REAL themes that are easily as pretty as Eugenia's theme and use one of them. Those themes are made by nice, humble, industrious and creative hackers not simply self important ranters. Personally I use the flat engine... one of the crowning glorys of mankind by Scott Barnes, you can get it here if you want, I am sure it is not everyone's ideal theme but it is clear, sleek and best of all... real!
