Ximian and Open Office

There has been lots of speculation on what Ximian has been doing with Open Office in prepartion for the GNOME 2 based version of Ximian Desktop. Well Michael Meeks made the slides from his presentation at the Open Office conference in Germany available, which details some of the changes done by Ximian.

They don't have a choice. "OpenOffice" is a trademark already owned by someone. If Ximian marketed their product as "OpenOffice", they could be sued for trademark infringement. Whoever owns the trademark for "OpenOffice" apparently isn't interested in selling, so everyone must call the program "OpenOffice.org"
