There has been lots of speculation on what Ximian has been doing with Open Office in prepartion for the GNOME 2 based version of Ximian Desktop. Well Michael Meeks made the slides from his presentation at the Open Office conference in Germany available, which details some of the changes done by Ximian.
You find the slides here.

Re: Ximian and Open Office

Mozzilla was unusable, but Gecko was not wery good. Most of the renderingproblems in Gecko was fixed between moz. 0.99 and 1.2. Remember KDE 2.0 was released when moz was pushing snapshot releses. An if you add development time, you can se KHTML was started round the time when the moz team decided to give upp the old netscape code and rewrite the engine.
