There has been lots of speculation on what Ximian has been doing with Open Office in prepartion for the GNOME 2 based version of Ximian Desktop. Well Michael Meeks made the slides from his presentation at the Open Office conference in Germany available, which details some of the changes done by Ximian.
You find the slides here.

Re: Ximian and Open Office

Trolltech seems to be using the restrictions in the GPL as a way to make profit, I am pretty sure that's not the way stallman intended to be used.

Personally I think QT has or at least shouldn't a future as an open source development library. There are many other fantastic reasons not to use QT, eg. QT does not use propper C++ as it relies on moc and other bullshit. QT has no C bindings and many OSS programmers like C better than C++ and to not have C bindings would be terrible. Also having an allmost wholly corperate developed interface as standard would make OSS look like a little bit of a joke.

On the QT website, QT is advetised as a cross platform portability device. I wish it was just that, it wrappes windows and MacOS interfaces, why can't it just wrap GTK? Personally I think that the sooner QT becomes a layer over GTK or dissappears entirely the better!
